From the consent of the governed...
"When in the Course of human events it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

How far we have strayed from the sentiments of our forefathers! The very events that stirred our founders hearts have aroused themselves in our present day Government. Those “Self Evident truths” no longer appear Self Evident.The unalienable rights endowed by our Creator have been replaced by allowances, endowed by our Government. The right to choose replaces the right to life. Our Bill of Rights is quickly becoming non existent, and our ability to pursue happiness is taxed away while others are bailed out. I fear that the checks and balances our forefathers implemented are rapidly being superseded by Activist Judges! The Tea Party was a start, we must let our voices be heard before we lose them all together. We are still a Nation who’s power is derived from the consent of the governed. God help us should that ever change.

Bread and Circuses
I thought I’d given this up, but it’s like a vortex that keeps sucking me in. So I’m going to blog, because I don’t feel comfortable talking about things like this publicly anymore.
I have been attempting to follow the current political trends in America since the new administration. I admit I’m not an expert, but I do try to maintain a fair amount of knowledge on the subjects. One thing I have noticed is how poorly we as a culture prioritize news. And how gray the line has become in regards to news vs. entertainment. I give you these examples:
One of the top stories of the past few days is Kanye West’s complete shafting of Taylor Swift during the VMA awards. Click here for the link. And if that’s not enough, Mr. Obama called Mr. West a jackass, now granted when Mr. west accused the former administration of willingly allowing 9/11 Mr. Obama didn’t admonish him at all, but that’s not the point I’m trying to make here.
Daily viewing of entertainment “news.“ Reading of Tabloids, gossip and rumors consume our lives. Yet how many of us know what America’s National deficit is? What’s really in the Health Care bill? How much energy prices will go up with this Cap and Trade bill? Or the current situation in Iraq/Afghanistan. (most who read this will know of someone who is or will be risking their life overseas) It affects all of us. More importantly how many of us really care? I am not being partisan here, I am merely talking about staying informed. I give you the following examples to dwell on.
If you Google Obama the top link is about him calling Mr. West a jackass. You have to scroll down six spaces to find a link about healthcare. I ask you, which one will affect generations to come? If you go to youtube and search for the Obama Kanye story you will find nearly a one hundred thousand hits. This story broke three days ago. If you search Obama and health care you will get about the same hits. But the story is months older. If you look up spending you will get about half that. And if you look up cap and trade your looking at about 50 thousand over a two month period hits.

Note: I am not naive enough to think that these statistics can actually be considered scientific. I am doing this to try and illustrate a point. As the roman poet Juvenal said:
“Already long ago, from when we sold our vote to no man, the People have abdicated our duties; for the People who once upon a time handed out military command, high civil office, legions — everything, now restrains itself and anxiously hopes for just two things: bread and circuses”
What do you think? Have we as a society become more concerned with our entertainment than the democratic process, our Bill of Rights, and the Constitution? Is there hope that we will once again take an active role in our representation?

What if....
Ok so you know how there are those annoying adds on the side of your blog? They scan the content of your blog and look for key words, and then proceed to advertise with something somewhat relavent to your post. Well what if instead of what we wrote, it scanned what we browsed? What if it posted on that instead? What would the advertisments on your blog be then? How many of us would have adds of impurity, filthiness, violence, greed? How many of us would fear what would be advertised on our blog?

Its only been six months since my best buds and I parted ways, graduated highschool and each went out to save the world. As I am physically and mentally tested by the challenges that not only my life style choice has brought me but the overall responsibilities of being a grown man, I realize just how valuable friendship and strong brothers in Christ are. I can't help but Thank God for all of you guys, and I hope and pray that we will be able to continue to influence each other in positive ways for years to come!
Dan, Doug, Chris, and Eli...I thank God for all of you.
We've worked together, studied together, competed against each other, talked about everything from girls to cars, and hammered out matters of philosophy and theology no 18 year old boys should even be able to think about. Let alone argue on half way intelligently.
May God have mercy on the women we marry, when we introduce them to our old highschool buddies!
